Training & Certification from ATIXA

ATIXA is the premier association for Title IX Training, offering a number of Certification courses to meet the growing demand for new and unique professional development opportunities. You will find an in-depth overview of current Certification offerings from ATIXA, descriptions of our courses and a course calendar below.

Please note that ATIXA offers a wide range of topical courses from which to choose. Many administrators attend a variety of courses, diversifying their knowledge base, and holding multiple certifications from ATIXA. Each Special Topics certification course generates a unique certification specific to that content, as opposed to maintaining a previously held certification from another course with its own topical content. However, Coordinator and Investigator tracks include multiple levels of training, which do allow administrators to maintain their Coordinator and/or Investigator certification(s) across levels. By building upon foundational courses through the advanced options offered, one could become ATIXA Coordinator Levels 1-5 and ATIXA Investigator Levels 1-4 certified.

If you do not see the training you are looking for, contact us for upcoming locations, to inquire about hosting on your campus, or to talk with an ATIXA team member about additional training offerings.

Training & Certification Levels

Introducing Newly Revised and Updated ATIXA Certifications

For 2020, ATIXA has revamped and updated our certification offerings with revised content, streamlined schedules, more venues, and added certification training courses. The goal for 2020 is to be more modular in our training offerings, so that you can find more trainings, more often, and pair our trainings to match your specific training needs.

What’s New for 2020?

  • Starting in 2020, ATIXA’s four-day Title IX Coordinator Level One Certification is now a two-day Title IX Essentials training. The goal is to make the trainings more modular, so that if you only have time for a two-day training, you can start with that, and take subsequent modules later to add to your knowledge base. Or, if you come to one of our four annual ATIXA multi-day events, you can combine Level One with any other level to get the training that is best suited to your needs and professional role.
  • Levels 2-5 of the Coordinator Certifications have been revamped and updated with refreshed topics, titles, and content.
  • For the first time, Levels 1-5 of Coordinator Certification will be offered as ATIXA regional events, not just at our annual hotel events. This should provide you access to Coordinator Certification more locally, more frequently, and at a cost-effective price.
  • Level Four of Investigator Certification Training is no longer the Due Process track. We have made Level Four into a whole new course, Advanced Interviewing Skills and Strategies.
  • We have created a new three-track framework for ATIXA’s certification trainings:

What Are the Different Ways I Can Get ATIXA Certification?

ATIXA offers Certification in five formats, summarized below:

Certification Training Hotel Events

Twice a year, ATIXA hosts week-long certification events at hotels in major cities. These events allow attendees to take up to two (2) two-day courses, plus a one-day supplement course, for up to three certifications over the course of a week. The January event is always in Orlando, Florida. The June event floats, with 2020 in Denver and 2021 in San Diego. These events draw about 500 attendees, with more than 15 expert faculty members, and offer as many as 6 simultaneous topic tracks, as well as receptions, dinners, and other networking opportunities.

Annual Conferences

ATIXA hosts two annual conferences. The East Coast Annual Conference is held in Philadelphia, ATIXA’s home city, in October. We’re upgrading hotels, hosting the conference at the Westin in 2020, and the Loews in 2021. ATIXA’s East Coast Conference drew 650 registrants in 2019, and is our traditional conference opportunity for members, offering concurrent sessions, roundtable discussions, opening and closing keynotes, sponsors and exhibitors, featured speaker sessions, plus receptions, dinners, and other networking opportunities. The tracks for this conference reflect ATIXA’s Communities of Practice. This is a great professional development venue for members to share their learning, innovative programs, and expertise with each other.

ATIXA now also offers a full-fledged West Coast Annual Conference, dates and locations of which vary each year. ATIXA’s 2019 West Coast Conference, our first, exceeded its cap of 350 registrants, so we’re scheduling a larger venue for 2020. The West Coast and East Coast events will largely mirror each other as our traditional conference opportunities for members, offering concurrent sessions, roundtable discussions, opening and closing keynotes, sponsors and exhibitors, featured speaker sessions, plus receptions, dinners, and other networking opportunities. The tracks for this conference reflect ATIXA’s Communities of Practice. This is a great professional development venue for members to share their learning, innovative programs, and expertise with each other.

Wrapping either side of the 2.5 day conferences, ATIXA offers a variety of one- and two-day pre-conference and post-conference certification opportunities. Together with our two hotel events, this provides you with four hotel-based events every year.

Regional Hosted Events

All of ATIXA’s sixteen (16) certification courses are also available year-round with our Regional Hosted Event (RHE) model. We offer 50 ATIXA RHEs every year. The RHE is your chance to attend a smaller ATIXA training (50-100 people), hosted on a campus or by a school district near to you. RHEs are priced lower than hotel event and conference certifications, because they don’t have the overhead of hotel expenses. Plus, our RHEs offer group pricing for some events, giving you the ability to train larger groups very cost-effectively. We host RHEs in cities, but also in suburban and rural areas where training is not ordinarily as accessible. Our RHE schedule can be found here, or via the map above. While RHEs tend to draw a regional attendance, they are open to registration from anyone, and we always post details for local hotels and travel logistics if you need it.

New for 2020, ATIXA is able to offer the flexibility of 1-day variations of many of our 2-day RHEs, for those who can’t afford to take two days away.

If you’re interested in hosting a higher education or PreK-12 RHE for ATIXA, please click here. RHE hosting is a great deal because hosts can get up to ten (10) employees trained without any registration fees.

Private Campus/District Events

The private campus or district event is a common way that our members arrange ATIXA training. Typically, a minimum of two to four colleges or school districts (often in rural or harder-to-access locations) band together to jointly sponsor, host, and pay for an ATIXA certification. Usually based on a flat fee (rather than per attendee, like our other events) approach, private events are great when you need to train large numbers of employees (as we did recently, for every PreK-12 school in Hawaii, for example). Typically, the host school provides the logistics for private events, and arranges for the co-sponsoring schools to participate. These events happen every week, but are not listed on the ATIXA website, and are not open to the public. Please contact ATIXA to schedule a private event for your region, consortium, association, BOCES, JPA, etc.

Single Campus/District Certifications

Want to keep an ATIXA certification all to yourself? Not inclined to share with others? We provide hundreds of single-campus or school district-based ATIXA certifications each year. Contact ATIXA to schedule your customized training, with an agenda and length designed specifically for the needs of your school, college, or district. Choose your preferred trainer, the topics that are most important to you, and the timing that works best for us to make a visit to you. It’s common to book visits at least six months in advance, so start planning your visit now.

You can’t get certified by ATIXA online. Frankly, the in-person interaction with the top experts in the field is one of the main benefits of ATIXA trainings. But, you can maintain your certification every two years with our online CCC system. It’s very affordable, accessible, and offers the same high-quality faculty members who teach our live certification courses.
